 Whitchurch League: IMPORTANT: Committee vacancies

Hi All

The Whitchurch and District Bowling League will have 2 vacancies to fill at the AGM in the autumn.

Treasurer - we have not filled this post which has been vacant since Ron sadly left us. The task is not onerous. However it's important to have another person on the committee to have our full compliment of 5 members.

Fixtures and Results Secretary - Mick filled in this position 10 years ago because nobody else would do it and what a great job he has done. We have split the responsibilities so that League Secretary work is completed by myself. However Mick wishes to stand down at the end of the season. He will provide a handover to the new person and assist during the start of next season.

Personally I believe that W&DBL playing with 3 triples, and at Old Basing we sometimes have all 6 rinks filled on a Wednesday night, is a great atmosphere. It would be a great shame to lose this important league and that is what will happen if we do not fill these posts.

Please discuss this within your club committees and circulate. These posts need to be filled for the AGM. Nominations in now please so that we can work with the incoming persons.

Kind regards and happy bowling

Karen

Hon. Secretary

Letter from Competition Secretary

Dear Secretary,

Please find attached the entry forms for the season 2022.

Could you ensure that the entry forms are returned to me by the closing date 27th March 2022. My preferred method for returning the forms is by email, but if unable by post will be fine.

The remittance for the entries must be sent to myself by the closing date or by bank transfer to the league. Refer to the Competition Summary sheet for details. Secretaries are reminded that the cost of entry has been increased to £1.50 per player.

Please ensure that the following rules are complied with:

NOVICE SINGLES – Entrants into this competition must have played for less than 3 years and have not won the Brookhouse Cup, Singles or the Novice Singles. I am excluding the ‘covid year 2020’ in this calculation due to lost experience.

Depending on the number of entries the following competition dates will be applied:

Preliminary round by 15 May

  • 1st round by 29 May
  • 2nd round by 19 June
  • Quarter finals by 17 July
  • Semi Finals by 7 August
  • Finals day on 14 August (with the ability to play some games on 13 August)

Players should not enter the competitions if they are not available for the finals day.

I would appreciate that you remind your players to phone results through before 9.30pm or preferably text or email.

I wish you and your members good luck in the competitions.

Yours Sincerely

Roger Banister

Competition Secretary
